The 15th June 2012 saw the first tranche of keys handed over from our builders, Atkinson Homes, though our fingers and straight to the first seven tenants. The first of these tenants moved in on the 16th.
Quite a milestone for the LCT coming three and a half years after we first looked at the options for affordable homes for the Parish. On 23rd June we handed keys over to a further 2 tenants.
The 4 weeks leading up to key handover was chaotic with a major push by our builders and their subcontractors to meet the agreed handover deadline.
Our team comprising architect, Ian Smart of ipsarchitects, client representative, Mike Storey of Donleys and Neil McKaskie and Lewis Doyle of Atkinson Homes have produced an excellent scheme which hopefully befits our village and addresses the need for affordable housing.
Work is currently on-going to complete the last two properties; the shared ownership houses, and tidy up the last site external works. We anticipate that final site handover will be on the 6th July. The only remaining work will be tree planting on the green and this will be carried out in the autumn.
Having finished the LCT owned houses, the first of our self-builders will be starting on site in the next month.
